My first art workshop in USA :)

Art is a medium for kids to express their thoughts & feelings independently with lot of fun. Kids gain self-satisfaction from art. They get an opportunity to enhance creativity; to make decisions i.e. what to draw & which color to put & to learn get a control on materials like pencil, colors, paper & many other objects. Hence, ART is a path for kids to “learn with fun”.

KIDS’ ART ACTIVITY WITH FUN & WARLI

Warli art is a tribal art , native to Maharshtra , in India. Originaly this art was practiced upon the walls & floors of the houses of tribals as well as on rocks. The figures & all other objects in warli art is based upon lines, dots & shapes such as triangle, circle ,rectangle, square etc. Jivya Shoma Mashe ,a famous Warli artist from Maharashtra, popularized  warli art forms .Since then warli  art is  also practiced upon paper, cloth & many other objects.

When I started practicing Warli art , I felt that due to the geometrical touch in the  art  kids can easily understand the various body movements of human & animals .They will learn to draw human & animal anatomy through lines & shapes such as triangle, square, rectangle, cirle & many other shapes. This will help them to learn the basics of human & animal anatomy at ease.

So to experience the magic of warli art among lovely kids, I am hosting a “KIDS’ ART ACTIVITY” at VALA Art Centre ,in Redmond ,Washington. The mission of this activity is to “have fun & learn”.

MY EXPERIENCE

ABOUT THE ART

This is a warli art .I made it colorful to excite kids. In this art two people are playing a drum. Kids are supposed to fill colors in the shapes. While filling colors they are observing the shapes & body movements. This observation will help them to understand the basics of human anatomy.

SHARING FEW MOMENTS!!!

Many lovely kids arrived with parents. They did the art with fun & happily took respective drawings to home. One girl , was feeling shy to do the coloring among so many people. So her mother clicked a photo of the drawing in order to complete it at home.

Therefore it was an awesome experience with such lovely kids.

See you next Saturday at Vala Eastside Center for another wonderful fun-filled experience. :)
