BORDERS OF INDIAN FOLK ART

Image
Today, while  I was just browsing images of various Indian folk art paintings ,one thing pop up in my mind that as a viewer we always focus on the main subject of a folk art.But other than the main subject ,painting also has another part i.e. it’s border. Border of an Indian Folk art painting is also as beautiful as the subject of painting. Moreover, it gives a complete look to it.Diversity also flows in the patterns of border of all folk paintings . Here I have done a rough sketch in order  to show the difference between all Indian Folk art, through its  borders.

DANCING FISHES

Image
Hi friends  .I have come up again with another version of fish art. This painting is another result of my love  towards madhubani painting & gond art.The patterns in border & background is based upon madhubani art. While the dancing fishes are designed as per gond art. I have been doing painting since childhood. But I started applying these folk art patterns  into my paintings very recently & which gave a new look to my art. These folk paintings are amazing .They don’t follow the grammar of fine art because folk artists are not trained in fine art. They follow their own style & create incredible paintings .They develop their style from their day to day life . Now let’s examine the patterns more precisely. The magic of gond art lies in beautiful patterns created with dots & lines.      In folk art , tails of fishes are also designed with intricate patterns. Hence ,this is my another trial to enhance the rich culture of Indian folk art. Therefore

MAYURA

Image
Mayura is the Sanskrit word for a peacock. It is a magnificent bird. It's inspiring nature encouraged me to showcase it’s beauty on canvas. So I named my painting as “Mayura”. The concept behind this painting is very simple. It is just about a beautiful bird  sitting  on  a tree. It  is not a realistic painting. It is an imaginary  mayura. The style of this painting is a blend of my imaginative ideas, and concepts of  madhubani painting ,kalamkari and    gond  art  from Bihar,Andhra Pradesh and Madhya  Pradesh  in India respectively . Peacock is the heart of this painting. It’s anatomy is divided into three parts : wings, torso & marvellous feathers. The design of wings is blending of realism & my imaginative ideas.Wings  of a real peacock have many  semi circular patterns. I decided to apply those  patterns & changed it’s look by making it more colorful. The design of its torso is completely based upon gond art patterns.Marvellous peacock feathers are the most b

MADHUBANI ON A WOODEN BLOCK

Image
This is another version of artwork  on something else other than paper or canvas. Now my object is a square wooden block of smooth surface. This block was lying on floor like a useless thing. I picked it up in order to give it an aesthetic touch. But I was little confused to select the perfect artistic idea which can add glamour to it. Finally I decided to apply madhubani designs on the wooden block. Hence, a useless wooden block became a madhubani art piece with six different designs on six sides.

STONE ART

Image
STONE ART Art is a way of beautifying the look of a dull object & give it a beautiful perception. I tried to apply and personify this thought of painting on a sea beach stone. Sea Beach stones can be a good paper weight because of its smooth texture, but people who are fond of decorating their house with beautiful artifacts, will not like to keep a dull looking beach stone in their house. This problem can be solved by painting on the smooth surface of a beach stone.  Hence, it can be a wonderful idea to do some unique as well as interesting artwork on a sea beach stone & transform it into a wonderful designer paper weight which may enhance the interior decoration of your house. In this art of mine, I have tried to glorify a piece of plain stone with folk art skills to reflect my imagination.   I will be very eager to know your views regarding my artwork.
