JAGANNATH

12" x 12" art on canvas in acrylic & pen Description : The word JAGANNATH literally means “ Lord of the Universe” & is a deity worshiped in regional traditions of Hinduism in India. He is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. His main temple named as JAGANNATH DHAM is located at holy city Puri (an age-old city in State of Odisha), in India. Every day many pilgrims visit this temple just to see one glance of Lord Jagannath's sacred idol made of sandalwood. If anybody visits Lord Jagannath's temple, one will see mural art on every wall & pillar. When artisans started doing this mural art on “patta” means canvas, then it became PATTACHITRA . So this way famous traditional art of Odisha i.e. Pattachitra evolved. This art form is known for its intricate details as well as mythological narratives and folktales inscribed in it. My painting is also a Pattachitra art, which depicts the holy face of Lord JAGANNATH.
