MAYURA

Mayura is the Sanskrit word for a peacock. It is a magnificent bird. It's inspiring nature encouraged me to showcase it’s beauty on canvas.So I named my painting as “Mayura”.

The concept behind this painting is very simple.It is just about a beautiful bird  sitting  on  a tree. It  is not a realistic painting. It is an imaginary  mayura. The style of this painting is a blend of my imaginative ideas, and concepts of  madhubani painting ,kalamkari and    gond  art  from Bihar,Andhra Pradesh and Madhya  Pradesh  in India respectively .

Peacock is the heart of this painting.It’s anatomy is divided into three parts : wings,torso & marvellous feathers.The design of wings is blending of realism & my imaginative ideas.Wings  of a real peacock have many  semi circular patterns. I decided to apply those  patterns & changed it’s look by making it more colorful.The design of its torso is completely based upon gond art patterns.Marvellous peacock feathers are the most bright part of this painting.I applied the shape of a peacock feather .Then I decorated it in a different way.I included bright orange , yellow & white color along with ultramarine blue & peacock blue.I applied fine green lines on yellow base in order to maintain the effect of green as per real peacock feathers.

The design of tree  is different from actual shape of trees .In case of realistic paintings, artist has to follow the nature .But in imaginative paintings an artist can create shapes as per artist’s imagination.So this is just my trial to give a new look of trees.The circular charkis are extra effort to adorn my art. I evolved the idea of charki from madhubani art.Generally one cannot see such charkis hanging from trees in reality.But my art is completely imaginative .Hence I applied charki in order to enhance the beauty of my art.
